It is that time again, the sale where you find toddler beds to used cloth diapers, tonnes of clothings and everything in between at fairly good prices. The last time I went there, on the first day of the sale, I was in the line for more than an hour, not sure if I want anything so badly this time to do that again. Happy Shopping!
I found this Chocolate sauce recipe and made it to serve over ice cream and it was really good, forget store bought sauces and try homemade. I found it in my favorite cookbook, Cooking Light and it is really yummy. You can serve it over ice cream, angel food cake or strawberries. I might post a picture later.
1 cup 1% low-fat milk
3 Tablespoons sugar (you can use Splenda)
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons cornstarch (you can substitute and use flour)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a small saucepan, stirring with a whisk until blended. Bring sugar mixture to a boil and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Cover sauce and chill.

I did not start Rehema on solids (cereal) until she was 6 months old and the doc had said that since she was a big baby, it was okay to wait. Henry too is a big baby but the doctor said I should start him on solids (cereal) when I took him for his 4 month appointment. I wondered why and then a friend of mine told me that the American Academy of Pediatrics had passed that we should start babies on solids at 4 months. I guess the doctor is required to tell me that, but what I do is up to me. I had decided I will still just wait but now he has started drinking all of 6 ounces in one sitting and wanting more so I guess it is time to start giving him real food made real good. you know what that means…the diapers will no longer be sweet smelling 🙂
Today’s Fun Monday is hosted by Penny and these are her words exactly:
“As of late I have been consumed with preparation for my Father’s aka “The Old One” Birthday, he will be turning 90 on August 8th and we are doing a family reunion, expecting about 100 people in all. So for your assignment lets hear about your favorite “Birthday”, it needn’t be your actual birthday just a “birthday” celebration. You can use one you planned, one you attended, one you crashed, just a fun time for this FUN MONDAY’S assignment, and of course you can use one of your very on Birthdays.”
Well, someone has a birthday in our house this month…and he turned the BIG….and so I am excited about this topic. I bet I will get some great ideas…Penny, I hope your dad has a great birthday and I bet it will be a great family reunion. When you have a toddler in the house who has 13 best friends, you tend to go to soo many birthdays. So I am going to talk about kid’s birthday parties, I have taken her birthdays at people’s houses which were good since their was no time pressure…
but my most favorite was this last one. The card said come party with the animals, but the address did not indicate that it would be an animal zoo or sanctuary, so I was really wondering. It was for one of Rehema’s friends. What it was, for a reasonable price, the animals come to your backyard. Noah’s Little Ark came with a pony, which the kids could ride, chickens, a pig, rabbits, a llama, goats and sheep. The kids had so much fun and got to see and touch animals they would normally not see. I think it made for a great birthday party.
the cake too was interesting, that head kept on moving and the kids thought it was hilarious.

With milk prices getting so high, I buy milk at Sam’s just because they have the cheapest milk, though I know they have issues with the container. I have mastered how to use that container though, so my milk rarely spills. I just bought a gallon a few days ago with an ‘expiry’ date of July 19th and today morning that milk was spoiled…it had become ‘maziwa lala’ (milk that has slept) I was not a happy camper, I like my tea/coffee with real milk. I wonder if they can replace my gallon of milk…plus my gas to go get a new one.

It’s Friday, yipee…oh, but I have to work tomorrow. This week was same same, gained none, lost none…walked everyday, went to the gym on Thursday, did a Cardio DVD at home, I really liked the DVD. Before I did not believe that walking works, but now I am a believer, walking does work. After all, fat is the fuel used when you are walking. Have a good Friday.
