Today’s Fun Monday is hosted by Cassie and here is what she wants to see:
I want to see the inside of your closet!! I want to see if your closet is as messy as mine!!! You can’t organize it before you take the picture!!
I am posting a picture of my Linen closet because my regular closet is pretty neat. But my Linen closet is pathetic and thanks to Cassie, I now am excited about organizing it for Tackle It Tuesday. I hope to have an ‘after’ picture tomorrow, it is more than a linen closet, it is storage cum medicine cabinet. But here is the before…
Head over to Cassie’s and see what’s coming out of people’s closets.
I was supposed to post this yesterday…This survey people sent me this nameless detergent and then after 6 weeks of using it, I am supposed to fill in a questionnaire. It really smells good and I am glad that I could save a few dollars on detergent. Last time they sent me Tide. As I was doing the laundry, I was thinking that at one time in my other life, I would wash my clothes by hand. Every Saturday morning, I would fill up pails with water (If there was water) and using Omo and Sunlight, would scrub those clothes the whole morning. Then I would hang them on the lines to dry and it felt so good in the evening when everything was dry, folded, ironed (maybe) and put away. Then I had enough of that…so I upgraded, no, I did not buy a washer . I decided to give someone a job. there were these women who would sit outside at this place on saturday mornings, complete with water, and for a dollar, they would wash 2 people’s weekly laundry load. (I wonder how much they charge now?) sounded too good to be true, but I did not want to have different women washing our clothes every saturday and rumor had it that some piece of clothing could disappear each week. We decided to employ someone to come to our house every week and wash the weekly load, and for a little more, she would clean the house too and at times cook Chapatis. Life was good then, then one day, she informed us that she was going to have a baby and so she was not able to work for us again. Actually, we had noticed, but in our culture, you do not mention such things until the person tells you. she did bring a replacement, it didn’t just work. I was back, to spending my whole saturday morning washing and scrubbing clothes. Despite washing clothes by hand for more than 2 decades, the house chore I dislike the most is ironing!!! I guess I never got enough practice.
Fast Forward…we came to the US, got a washer, all I had to do was ‘throw’ the clothes into the washer, and that has become a task, how lazy I have become. and then, we got a dryer too, I do not have to wait the whole day for my clothes to dry, I do not have to worry about someone stealing my clothes from the lines outside, for some reason, the dryer seems to take too long 🙂
I signed up for Fun Monday yesterday and did not do it, my apologies to Heather. I had all the intention to, not having a sports team I am crazy about did not help much. It’s already Tuesday, I did not sleep much because I was anticipating going for boot camp. Jenn and Amy gave me a three days pass to the boot camp. I really enjoyed it and I think it went fast and he had a variety of exercises to do. Waking up early is the hard part, but once you are there, you are glad that you did it. I think he has a later class though.
Today, I am taking it easy, I am going to do a load of laundry and then catch up with my reading. I have a linen closet that keeps screaming at me to arrange, the towels are just falling off it, but I think that will wait for another day.
When Mommies get together, especially new mommies, all they talk about is their new baby (ies) and all the good stuff that comes with that. On Friday, my many workmates and I went on a lunch cruise on the Riverboat. After you have worked for the company for a certain number of years, you get a lunch cruise and something else that you choose from a list. So we started talking about milk supply and all, and I told her that my milk supply has gone down and I do not want to buy formula for Henry. And she told me that the same thing happened to her when she came back to work and she was told to buy Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle and this will increase the milk supply. I went to look for these at Nutrition World and they come in HUGE capsules and you are supposed to take 2 for the first one and 3 of the second one. I NEVER take pills, I’d rather die of pain than swallow a pill. I had a really hard time taking the prenatal vitamins, (they are still in the house) Has anyone ever tried these herbs and do they really work?
I used to be an avid participant of Fitness on Fridays, and I liked it. It did motivate me when I did it, but now, Fitness on Fridays is going to be in my past. It is not that I have reached my weight goal, I am still far from it. After I started running more consistently, it ceased being just about pounds, it has now become about being healthy and fit. Sure, I would love to loose more pounds, but I have stopped focussing on that. I feel more healthy, I sleep better, my clothes fit better and I have become a runholic, and you know what, it works for me. so, goodbye Fitness on Fridays…I think I am going to start my very own meme for Fridays, but for now, thank God it’s Friday!
I am late with this recipe but I was determined to post, I slept at 12.30 am tagging clothes, then I had to take them to the consignment place after work and that took forever. I wish I could volunteer to help at the sale but with two kids to take care of, it is kinda hard…now to what I wanted to post…
