When Mommies get together, especially new mommies, all they talk about is their new baby (ies) and all the good stuff that comes with that.  On Friday, my many workmates and I went on a lunch cruise on the Riverboat.    After you have worked for the company for a certain number of years, you get a lunch cruise and something else that you choose from a list.   So we started talking about milk supply and all, and I told her that my milk supply has gone down and I do not want to buy formula for Henry.  And she told me that the same thing happened to her when she came back to work and she was told to buy Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle and this will increase the milk supply.  I went to look for these at Nutrition World and they come in HUGE capsules and you are supposed to take 2 for the first one and 3 of the second one.  I NEVER take pills, I’d rather die of pain than swallow a pill.  I had a really hard time taking the prenatal vitamins, (they are still in the house)  Has anyone ever tried these herbs and do they really work?

  1. Now I am thinking I should have bought the tea she offered me, it probably is not that bad…I was just imagining swallowing this nasty tasting tea, but now, swallowing 5 capsules, is proving to be a challenge, hope it works

  2. I was going to suggest the tea, since I know others who had success with that.

I had the hardest time with my milk supply when I went back to work as well. One of the bad things I did was not keep pumping at a regular time. I had an excellent pump but my day would get away from me and I would forget or think I didn’t have enough time. Being in a cubicle environment didn’t help.

  3. Habari dada,
thanks for the reply.. of course you know iam cute and to prov eit i have put my one year old photo..black and white next to Imani’s one year photo coloured. They look so exactly the same, you would think it is the same version only that Imani is the famle version of me and of course much cuter than me. She is bringing so much joy to our life, we calll her Mdam president and ot com lady. Today she called Nindinya in the morning. She insist on hanling my phone. she throws away her toy phone and an old phone that i gave her that is not working.SHe insist on tping on my lap top.so i thought i was being wise and bought her a baby lap top. the only thing she uses it for is music. Otherwise she would rather be punching my lap top. I thought i was being wise so i brought a non-working lap top from work. She throws it away she would have none of that junk stuff. Jana she woke up and tried to wake me up, but i was hesitating she promptly poked my nose with her fingers..did i have a choice? then she started laughing when i woke up in a hurry.

  4. I used a tea I bought at Greenlife. It was with all their herbal teas and was called “Mother’s milk,” I think. It had the two herbs in it and I do think it helped me with my low supply. I also would brew it in a large quantity and keep it chilled in a pitcher so I could drink it more often and that was more convenient for me.
