It’s Over and Don’t Do It!

The Cabbage Soup Diet is over.  It got really easy towards the end, it helps that my soup was yummy.  What do I think about it?  Don’t do it, unless you are a junk food junkie.  I had read this before I started it, if you generally eat healthy, it might not make a huge difference.  It made a little difference to me but after eating all that veggies and fruits, I have realized that I need to do that more.  It was great to go a few days without eating processed food and I think it did clear my system but I don’t think it was worth it.  Join me next week, the Abs diet.

Day 5

I think I am done with this Cabbage Soup Diet!  Today was supposed to be beef, beef and beef and lots and lots of tomatoes.  I went to Food Lion and wanted to see if there was any marked down beef and sure enough there was.  So I got myself some with tonnes of tomatoes and ended up making a serious beef stew.  Even the non meat lovers a.k.a. Rehema loved it.  I am right now watching one of my favorite shows, “So you think you can Dance?”  Some of these people can really dance!

Amy and I started off this morning with some speed training, loved it.  We did some really fast kilometers.  It is just 3 weeks to the next race, the Riverbend 5K.   Well, hope you had a great day.

Day 4

Day 4 was going so good until someone gave me the new spicy Chik -fil-A sandwich.  I was one of those people who made a reservation to taste their new spicy sandwich today, when I made that reservation, I did not know I would be doing a crazy diet.  So, I decided to go and pick it up with the intention of giving it to someone else, but bananas and milk were not doing it for me, so I took a bite and the next thing I knew it was gone…so much for day 4.  I am still hanging in there though…I am supposed to eat 8 bananas I think…and lots of milk.  I decided to try the Smart Balance milk and it tastes so good, what made me worried about it though is that it expires in July, what is up with that?

Sugar!

It is end of week 2, 10 days I have shredded with Jillian Michaels.  I rest on the weekends.  She promises that I will lose upto 20 pounds,  she says upto 20 pounds, it could be zero, but it could also be 20.  Half of that would be fine with me.

Sugar from Survivor was voted out yesterday, I said bye to her on facebook.  In honor of Sugar, I am cutting out sugar for 5 days beginning 15th.  I am not taking in any refined, artificial or processed sugar.  The only sugar I will take in is sugar found naturally, like in fruits etc.  I bet that cuts out a lot of stuff.  Will see how I will do on friday next week.

Have a great Valentine!

Day 4

Day 4 of the 30 days shred, Jillian Michaels is killing me, it better be worth it. I am doing level one though, will move to level 2 after 10 days. I think 20 minutes of this circuit training is worth more than 30 minutes running on a treadmill. But then again, depends on how fast you run on that treadmill…

Fitness Challenge

Today we started a fitness challenge at work. This is a 10 week challenge and after that we will weigh in again and see who lost the most body fat. I was happy that I have lost 2 pounds of body fat since I last weighed myself. So, what is my plan?
I will start off the first month with Jillian Michaels 30 days shred DVD.
Will walk during one of my breaks
I intend to keep a food diary using Calorie King.
Will keep you updated…

So many choices?

It is that time of the year when everybody is trying to get you to use their gym, buy their DVD or try their diet. It can be really confusing! About 1.5 years ago I joined a gym, and from my understanding I thought that I could break the contract with penalties, it turns out that I cannot break that contract for another 1.5 years. Bad mistake! Next time I will be sure to read the fine print properly. Luckily my employer pays for gym membership and I do go to that gym once in awhile. I was at one of the stores looking for a fitness DVD to buy. I already had the Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred and it does work if you do it everyday. I lost 5 pounds on it and I only did it for a total of 15 days in December. I wanted to get a different kind of DVD and was torn between Leslie (the walking one) and Billy’s Boot camp. I infact made my decision at the cashiers. Since I love to run, I decided to leave Leslie and go with Billy’s Boot camp. I put it on today, did his Abs workout and one of the boot camp workouts and I am feeling it. The downside is, I think it is more effective it you buy the bands but I was using 3 pound dumb bells and it was killing me. Will see how it goes. As for diet, I still cook Kenyan food a lot. We have decided that we are going to eat more veggies, lots of collard greens. After all, that is what we used to eat almost everyday while growing up. No wonder we were so slender! Have you made any fitness goals this year? My fitness goal is to lose 15 pounds, and I am willing to settle for losing it within the next 2 months.

30 Day Shred

I was in Target the other day, had a Target card and was looking for stuff to buy for myself and so I decided to by one of Jillian’s DVDs.  It’s called 30 Day Shred.  It’s an old DVD, as in, she has had others after that, this was one was on sale.  It is killing me!  It is a 3-2-1 system, 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of Cardio and 1 minute of Abs, for a 3 circuits.  It does go fast and by the time you are done, you are sweating away.  I have missed one or two days already but I am going to try and do it to the end of the month.  Anyone use this DVD before?
